In this Danish black comedy, Mads Mikkelsen plays a middle-aged college professor who theorises with his friends that their lives and behaviours will improve if they drink every day to keep their blood alcohol at a certain constant level, and whilst the early days of their experiment does seem to have some success, the practice leads to alcoholism and makes their problems worse.
The original Danish title was Druk, which translates to “binge drinking”, but I actually think Another Round is a much better title. The cast are impressive, but the always excellent Mads Mikkelsen does a spectacular job carrying the film as the main character the plot develops around.
An American remake went into the works almost immediately following this film’s release, but I’m sure it will be watered down.
