Sidney Flanigan delivers a phenomenal breakthrough performance as Autumn, a teenage girl who has an unwanted pregnancy and, along with her cousin, ventures into New York City to study her options.

It’s rather dour subject matter, but it’s handled conscientiously by writer-director Eliza Hittmann, who avoids politics surrounding the issues of abortion to simply deliver the story of one girl’s ordeal.

It certainly isn’t feel-good viewing, but it does manage to be compelling throughout.
