*SPOILERS*
What’s this? A film where Nicolas Cage has his pet pig stolen and spends the rest of the film trying to get it back… and it’s good?!! Seriously, this film may have a plot that sounds ridiculously bizarre, but it really does feature Nicolas Cage’s best performance in well over a decade.
Cage plays Robin Feld, a hermit who lives in a remote cabin in the woods, where he hunts for truffles with his foraging pig as his only companion.
The pig is stolen in the night and, bruised and bloodied, Robin ventures out from his solitude to try and get It back, as his journey progresses, his back story and history becoming clearer as it emerges that he was a once prominent chef who became reclusive following the death of his wife.
Sometimes it’s the simple stories which are the best, and it’s always a bonus when a fantastic lead performance makes it so captivating.  I don’t think I’ll ever look at a bacon sandwich the same way ever again after watching this.
