Wes Anderson's breakthrough film, showcasing his potential
as director and screenwriter (as well as co-writer Owen Wilson's talents). It's as quirky as the rest of his work, which may come frustrating to some, but for those wanting some original
characters and dialogue rather than the norm, this will be fondly appreciated.
A precocious 15-year-old competes with his friend, a
wealthy businessman, for the affections of a new school teacher, and finds his academic growth in peril due to his actions.
It's a curious story of adolescent problems, but
incredibly well written and performed, with standout performances from Bill Murray and Olivia Williams particularly.
