A
French-American financed Western starring Joaquin Phoenix and John C. Reilly as a pair of bounty hunter brothers who pursue a gold prospector and his companion across 1850's Oregon.
Moody, atmospheric and a little slowly paced, this adaptation
of Patrick DeWitt's novel focuses quite a lot on internal conflict, particularly Eli's, who is beginning to doubt the career path he made and tries to convince his brother that they should return
home.
I
can't deny that it's a well made and well acted piece of work, it just lacks that 'magic scene' to make it truly memorable.
