Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron is an animated western from Dreamworks studios, released in 2002, but it feels as though it could have been made at least a decade earlier,
possibly due to the plot of the story rather than the standard of animation, which is absolutely fine.
The story follows the adventures of a Mustang horse in the Wild West, captured by the cavalry and reluctant to be trained by them, before he is freed by a Lakota Indian and tries
to make his way home.
It’s a decent animated movie, though unlikely to be subject to repeat viewings, and it really could have eased up on the Bryan Adams songs, which appear on the soundtrack
throughout. The main theme “Here I Am” was more than enough.
