Hands down, Will Ferrell delivers his best performance by far
in this comic fantasy, in which he plays Harold Crick, a tax auditor who thinks he's losing his mind when he starts hearing his life and actions being narrated. The narrators voice is provided by
Karen Eiffel (Emma Thompson), an author who is writing Harold as a fictional character for her new novel, unbeknownst that he is a real person and her writing seriously affects the path of his
life.
A
good throwback to the Steve Martin style comedies of the 1980's, the film not only features Will Ferrell's career best performance, but also a great supporting turn from Emma
Thompson.
The suspension of disbelief is also handled very well by Zach
Helm's script. It is what it is, just go with it and enjoy.
