British production The Slipper & The Rose is a
politically correct dramatisation of the Cinderella fairy tale with the addition of some original songs (penned by The Sherman Brothers), handsome production design, exquisite costumes and
some rather conservative performances. Unfortunately, the one important thing it's missing is any sense of magic.
Little girls will probably enjoy it a lot more than little
boys. For me, it's just a step up from pantomime fluff... I'm surprised more of the usual luvvies weren't cast.
