Michael Douglas stars as Grady Tripp, an
academic novelist suffering both writer's block and a mid-life crisis whilst his protégé, a young student sees his fortunes turn upwards.
This black comedy is mostly a series of
disasters for it's leading man, who gives his best screen performance for the best part of a decade, helped by a witty screenplay adapted from Michael Chabron's
novel.
