Laura Linney delivers one of her finest performances in this
affecting drama about a single mother in a small town who struggles to cope with raising her son, her overbearing new boss at her bank job and her ex-convict brother, returning home after a spell
in prison.
Kenneth Lonergan's film has an autobiographical, personal feel
to it, with good performances from the entire ensemble, but it was Linney who earned all the plaudits, including an Oscar nomination for Best Actress, and deservedly so.
